Cold applied systems

Our cold-applied systems are highly durable, versatile, and easy to apply, making them ideal for use in heavily trafficked areas. This range includes BBA HAPAS Type l certified products, offering customisable skid resistance for enhanced versatility. Available in a wide variety of colours, they also provide a clear visual warning to drivers in hazardous zones.

Hot applied systems

Our hot applied systems are easy to install with a quick turnaround, ensuring treated areas can be reopened to traffic swiftly. This range includes BBA HAPAS Type l certified products, offering tailored solutions based on traffic levels. In addition, our hot applied systems can be applied year-round and are tolerant of poor road conditions.

Tried and tested solution

Our high friction surfacing has been proven, by independent studies, to save lives. Our products have been found to successfully reduce the braking distance of vehicles by up to a third, with other studies showcasing a 50% reduction in injury and fatal accidents, and 70% reduction in wet weather accidents.

          FAQs

          shape
          1. What is high friction surfacing?

High friction surfacing is a specialised treatment applied to road surfaces to significantly increase skid resistance, especially in high-risk areas such as sharp bends, pedestrian crossings, junctions, and more.

          2. How is high friction surfacing installed?

High friction surfacing is applied using either hot applied or cold applied systems. The surface is cleaned, adhesive is applied, and then the high friction aggregate is broadcast and embedded. After curing, excess aggregate can be removed leaving a durable skid-resistant finish.

          3. What are the benefits of using high friction surfacing?

High friction surfacing has many benefits such as reducing road traffic collisions, increasing braking efficiency in all weather, fast and efficient application, enhances driver confidence, and delivering long-lasting performance.

          4. Is high friction surfacing environmentally-friendly?

Our high friction surfacing solutions are designed with sustainability in mind. Up to 60% of our bauxite is repurposed, minimising environmental impact.

Additionally, the exceptional durability of our surfacing means it requires less frequent reapplication, which further reduces resource use and emissions over the product’s lifecycle.
